Carnival chatter in the oven: Nonna Anna’s recipe

Sharing is caring!

Ingredients :

  • 150 grams of flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon agave syrup
  • Zest of half a lemon
  • 50 g of butter
  • 1/3 sachet of yeast
  • 2 pinches of salt

For the decorations:

Method:

Prepare the dough for your carnival speech by putting all the “dry” ingredients in a bowl: flour, salt, baking powder, and the grated zest of half a lemon (washed and dried). Mix them with a spoon then add the wet ingredients: the egg, the agave syrup and the butter that you will have softened beforehand. Now, with a whisk, mix all the ingredients until you get a homogeneous mixture. Now, with a spatula, remove the dough from the bowl and place it on a previously floured surface. Work this dough with your hands, sprinkling it from time to time so as not to stick, until you get a ball.
Wrap the ball in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for half an hour.
Now turn the oven on to 180 degrees to preheat it.
After half an hour, take the ball out of the fridge and roll it out with a floured rolling pin, creating a very thin layer. At this point with a wheel in shape cut the dough in half horizontally then make strips about 3 cm wide, cutting with the wheel from top to bottom.
You will place these strips in a mold previously covered with a sheet of baking paper.
Place the strips next to each other, about 1 cm apart.
The time has come to color your carnival speeches by sprinkling on their surface the flavored (and colored) sugars from the Le Sfiziosità range: pink (with berries), blue (with anise), green (with mint), brown (cocoa), will give your chatter color and lots of flavor!
Cook at 180 g for 10 min.
If you want to alternate bubbly chatter with more “creamy” chatter, cook some of the chatter without sprinkling sugar; once out of the oven, you will fill it with the fillings of the Le Sfiziosità line, soft and creamy creams to garnish your conversation with an artistic touch.
